Fort Worth alone is split across several justice precincts, and the suburbs are not cleanly one precinct each. The county publishes served-area statements for only two of the eight constable precincts: Precinct 4 (Lake Worth, Azle, Haslet, Saginaw, Blue Mound, Westworth Village, Westover Hills, Sansom Park, River Oaks, White Settlement, and part of Fort Worth) and Precinct 6 (Southwest Fort Worth, Benbrook, Edgecliff Village, and Crowley), both read September 13, 2026. For everything else, and even for those, the county's GIS precinct lookup at gisit.tarrantcounty.com/caid is the source. Type the address, read the JP precinct field, file there. A petition in the wrong precinct is dismissed and the clock restarts from the notice to vacate.

The filing fee is $54 and the constable's fee to serve the eviction citation is $90 per defendant, $144 for one tenant, on every precinct's eviction page read September 13, 2026, and on the county's 2026 Sheriff and Constable fee schedule effective January 1, 2026. Precinct 8's eviction page still shows the pre-2026 figures ($46 and $75, last modified August 2023); the countywide schedule governs, so budget $54 and $90 and confirm at the counter. If the case runs to a writ of possession, the constable's fee is $180, plus $80 per deputy per hour after the first two hours, with a $5 court fee on the writ (Precinct 1 Justice Court fee schedule effective January 1, 2026, read September 6, 2026). Do I have to eFile?

It depends on the precinct and on who you are. An LLC that owns a rental is a business. Precinct 3 (Hurst and Southlake) mandates eFile through eFileTexas for all businesses in eviction and debt claim cases effective March 1, 2026, and for all attorneys, with self-represented individuals strongly encouraged. Precinct 4 (Lake Worth) calls eFile its preferred filing method for all cases, accepts paper but strongly discourages it, and keeps a kiosk at the court for anyone without a computer. The other six precincts offer eFile as an option through eFileTexas or Guide and File. Precincts 4, 7, and 8 state that appeals are not accepted by eFile; those are filed in person. What happens after you file

The constable serves the citation. If the court finds genuinely disputed facts, it sets the trial at least 10 days and no more than 21 days after the petition was filed (Tex. R. Civ. P. 510.4(d), as rewritten for eviction suits filed on or after January 1, 2026). After a judgment for possession, the tenant has five days from the date the judgment is signed to appeal by bond, cash deposit, or a Statement of Inability (Rule 510.19(a)). The writ of possession cannot issue before the sixth day after signing or the day after the appeal deadline, whichever is later (Rule 510.18; Texas Property Code Sec. 24.0061(b)), and the constable must serve it within five business days of issue and post a 24 hour warning on the front door before executing (Sec. 24.0061(b-1) and (d)).
